About Jill Allison

My life has been devoted to being a healer, herbalist, gardener, environmental activist, lover of nature, guitarist, artist, and lifelong student.

The pursuit of knowledge regarding (western) herbology has been a self-directed pursuit for more than 40 years. Some of my teachers were David Hoffman, Michael Moore, Rosalee de Foret, Deborah Soule, Sajah Popham, Rosemary Gladstar, and Eaglesong. Growing, foraging, preparing, and using herbal medicines has been an integral part of my life for decades.

After more than 45 years of working in healthcare, the conventional way of practicing medicine felt removed from the natural world to me, so I pursued a career as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbal consultant.

As an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, I prescribed Chinese herbal formulas for my clients. For a decade I worked at Country Doctor Medical Clinic in their medical laboratory. I also performed community acupuncture at Country Doctor clinic.

When I moved to Port Townsend, I worked at Nourishing Life Acupuncture clinic in their community clinic and provided private sessions for clients.

After leaving Nourishing Life Clinic, I opened a private acupuncture practice for a few years before retiring from acupuncture to focus on studying Western herbalism.

Love of plants and all the beings that live among them has been an important part of my world ever since I was a young child. My Pollinator Stewardship Certification with the Pollinator Partnership group in 2022 was a wonderful way to learn more about  the plants and the beings that are an intimate part of our world.

Sharing what I have learned with others to help them find the ‘magic’ of plants and how they can use this magic in their own lives, is my sacred offering to the world.
